Saffron is a production-grade metal 3D printer developed through a partnership between SWI Manufactured Systems and 3DEO. SWI manufactured and assembled the complete machine at our Rancho Dominguez, California facility. Featured here as an example of our contract manufacturing capabilities, the project demonstrates how we transform complex engineering designs into fully integrated production equipment through precision manufacturing, assembly, and system integration.
Bringing Saffron to life required CNC machining, control manufacturing, 3D plastic printing, and mechanical assembly—all performed in-house. The build included more than 200 manufactured components and over 600 sourced parts organized into more than 30 assemblies. Our team managed every stage of production, from precision part fabrication and wiring through final system integration and testing.

As a metal additive manufacturing platform, Saffron demanded high reliability across motion systems, powder handling, and thermal control. We built and tested each subassembly to meet those demands, ensuring smooth operation, long-term durability, and alignment with 3DEO's functional requirements.
